DESIGN RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
INTRODUCTION
Assignment 1: proposal
ASSIGNMENT 2: Critical review
ASSIGNMENT 3:primary data
ASSIGNMENT 4:
-Recorded Presentation
-Simplified Presentation Slides
FEEDBACKS
Week 3
It is clear that the topic is UX design,
but it is necessary to clarify in more detail whether it is the fashion industry or the fashion website platform.
And you need to think about solving research problems by focusing more on user experience rather than marketing or management aspects. It is good to find a problem by referring to articles, but it is better to find academic papers
Week 4
Research Question: What are the design principles and strategies to improve user experience (UX) when utilizing wearable technology? This could be the first research question.
ex)How are these design principles effective or providing personalized experience?
Identify UX design principles that improve the wearable device user experience.
To study how to apply UX
Critical review: Use an APA style
Week 5
Public holiday (Prophet Muhammad's Birthday)
Week 6
Critical review
Use APA style instead of 'the article
Second Critical Review is fine but reword the third one
Divide the Strengths and weaknesses
Week 7
Research Problem: A research problem is just one sentence.
Assignment 3: You need to focus more on research subjects and plan specific research methods in the future, such as using Microsoft Teams or Zoom.
make sure to use visual analysis or not
Please explain why I chose that company.
Week 8
ILW (no contact)
Week 9
RECAP: more focus on design, not technology, question must be in question format
Research Design: Participant: It's good to divide the participants into three men and three women, but we need a more detailed area for those who use Apple and Nike Plus. It's good to mixture
Flatform: Microsoft Teams is better than Google Meetings because they can record screens
Questions: The question about security doesn't fit UX, and it would be better to change the third question to be more UI-oriented rather than technical.
Week 10
Before starting FGI, start with a brief explanation that will help you understand UX.
Week 11
FGI: record the interview and capture the screen
Case study: Find references or literatureWeek 12
Better understanding than last week.
Case study
A more detailed and precise analysis should be done on the App icon color and Border shape to be mainly covered.Week 13 -As an option, we can also develop a more streamlined presentation for your convenience. -The presentation will be limited to 8 minutes. -The presentation will consist of 23-25 slides.
REFLECTION
Experience:
Throughout this research journey, I immersed myself in the dynamic realm of UX design within the fashion industry, specifically focusing on the integration of wearable technology. Navigating through each week, I encountered a multitude of challenges and insights that shaped my understanding of the intricate relationship between technology and fashion.
One of the notable experiences was the continuous refinement of my research topic, spurred by constructive feedback. Initially, my focus on UX design in the fashion industry lacked specificity, and the guidance received during Week 3 prompted a more refined approach, honing in on the nuances of wearable technology. The iterative nature of this process allowed me to appreciate the importance of clarity in research objectives.
The involvement in critical reviews, especially the emphasis on APA style, provided valuable hands-on experience in academic writing conventions.
The initiation of the Focus Group Interview (FGI) marked a pivotal experience. Conducting interviews, during the FGI provided firsthand insights into user perspectives, revealing nuances that might be overlooked in traditional data collection methods.
Observation:
One key observation throughout the research process was the need for a delicate balance between design and technology. The iterative feedback cycles underscored the importance of grounding the research in academic papers, ensuring a robust foundation for problem identification and solution-seeking. The shift towards user-centric questions and away from marketing or managerial aspects emphasized the significance of aligning research objectives with the heart of UX.
The meticulous division of participants by technology usage (Apple and Nike Plus) showcased the attention to detail required in UX research. Observing the evolution of the research questions highlighted the iterative nature of the academic process, with each refinement bringing the research closer to precision.
The choice of Microsoft Teams over Google Meetings for its screen recording capabilities revealed the practical considerations involved in selecting research tools. This observation emphasized the need for tools that not only facilitate communication but also align with the specific requirements of the research methodology.
Findings:
The findings from the case study, particularly the detailed analysis of the App icon color and Border shape, brought forward nuanced insights into design elements that significantly influence the user experience. This phase of the research illuminated the importance of granular examination in identifying aspects that contribute to or hinder effective UX design.
The reflection on the presentation format and duration underscored the importance of effective communication in research dissemination. Crafting a concise yet comprehensive presentation became a finding in itself, emphasizing the need to distill complex information into a digestible format.
In summary, the journey from refining the research topic to conducting FGI and analyzing case study findings has been a rich tapestry of experiences, observations, and findings. Each phase contributed to a deeper understanding of UX design in the context of wearable technology within the fashion industry, paving the way for a more informed and impactful research outcome.
