REFLECTIONExperience: The 14-week interactive design course marked the beginning of a transformative journey. Initially, I approached it with anticipation and a desire to delve into the intricacies of designing interactive user experiences. The course structure, assignments, and projects provided a scaffold for exploration, encouraging a hands-on approach to learning. As the weeks progressed, I encountered various challenges, from mastering design tools to conceptualizing and implementing interactive elements. The iterative nature of the design process became apparent, and each project presented unique hurdles that demanded creative problem-solving and adaptability.Specific projects stood out as milestones in my learning journey. Whether it was crafting a responsive web design or conceptualizing user flows, each assignment contributed to a deeper understanding of interactive design principles. The application of design thinking and user-centered design methodologies became more intuitive over time.
Observation: One notable observation was the improvement in my proficiency with design tools. From the initial struggles to navigate software interfaces, I gradually gained confidence in executing design tasks efficiently. The fluency in using tools such as Adobe XD or Figma became instrumental in translating design concepts into tangible interactive prototypes.Throughout the course, a significant observation was the emphasis on a user-centered approach. Understanding user needs, conducting usability testing, and iterating based on feedback became second nature. This shift in perspective not only influenced my design decisions but also underscored the importance of empathy in creating meaningful user experiences.
Findings: A key finding was the iterative nature of the design process. Each iteration, whether prompted by self-reflection or external feedback, contributed to refining and enhancing the interactive elements. This constant refinement not only improved the aesthetics but also deepened the functionality and user engagement of the designs. The course highlighted the importance of holistic design thinking. Beyond visual aesthetics, considerations like usability, accessibility, and user delight became integral to the design process.
